I had a little pair of red boots when I was a little girl. Mama says they were my favorite shoes and I always wanted to wear them. Well, she dug them out of a box at her house and I took them to the show cobbler to be shined up and repaired.
While I was trying some fall clothes on anna kate this afternoon, I thought about the boots. Her chubby feet almost won't let them go on her feet. But they did and she adores them. She pranced around and had so much fun in mommys little red boots!

Boots are made for walking
American Pride!
Saturday was the last day of early voting here in Madison County. I used the opportunity to take the kids with me so they can see, first hand, the democratic process. This race is just for some local judges and a few other local races. But still important! I've always taken them with me so they can see and understand voting and why we are different than other nations that do not have this privilege.
They were excited and got "Future Voter" stickers. A big hit!!
I even let them hit the red button to cast our vote!

Water babies!
We had so much fun this weekend with great friends! We had some "big firsts" out on the water.
Barnes has been begging to knee board for a couple of weeks now. This weekend he got his shot. He tried the first time and immediately got sideways and flipped upside down. He wasn't discouraged and said, "I can do it mommy!" the second time he got a tad bit farther and really got dunked this time. I was sure he'd throw in the towel because it was late and he was tired. But he was persistent and said he didn't want to give up. So try number three was great! He went a good distance before he finally had to let go of the rope. He was so proud and so were brad and I!
Anna Kate got her first chance to ride the tube behind the boat. She was so excited to watch the boys that I knew she wanted to do it. She got right on without hesitation and had the best time. She would say, "whoa whoa whoa!!" when we hit the wake. She cried when it was time for her to get off.
Anna Kate also got to ride the wave runner with BBP and daddy. She loved that too. I think we may have another perry baby daredevil on our hands!!
We had such a big time and I had TWO VERY TIRED water babies tonight at bed time. A perfect weekend.

Our new family pet - a Coyote!
In an atypical moment of maternal weakness, I agreed to a new family pet. Actually, if I'm being really honest... I SUGGESTED the new pet to the kids while we were dropping Georgie off at PetCo to be groomed.
So, meet Coyote the fish! The kids are nuts about him. Anna Kate says, "ish! Ish!" all the time! Barnes gets up every morning and goes immediately to check on coyote.
Here's to years of health and happiness, Coyote. Don't let me down!!

Happy Late Fathers Day!
Happy Father's Day!! This post is late but our craft was late too. It took a few days to complete but it was well worth it in my opinion. I love all of our hands together as one. It symbolizes our commitment to each other as part of something bigger than just ourselves. Our FAMILY.
It also in my eyes symbolizes the commitment I have to each of those three other hands.
As parents we are charged to:
Love
Teach
Discipline
Inspire
Cherish
And so many many more
Parenting is hard business. Any person reading this probably knows more about it than I do. But I have to say, we have pretty great kids. It's either dumb luck or were doing something right. Maybe a little of both. Happy Father's Day to the best daddy we know!! If you only knew how much those precious little children love you. I hope you do because they think Daddy hung the moon and the stars. Like Barnes always says, I love you to God and back!!
Safari park fun!
It's been terribly hot the past month. Hot doesn't even describe it. 100+ for what seems like weeks!!!! This week the good Lord provided us respite from the heat and we got some rain too. We took the opportunity that the cooler weather provided and headed outside! We visited the TN safari park in Alamo. Otherwise known as the redneck zoo. That's what I call it at least.... Anytime monkeys are kept in old cotton trailers and a giraffe lives in a barn, I'd call that redneck! ;) we had fun and the kids loved feeding the animals. Though, Anna Kate was VERY unsure each time they came up to the window. She would scoot closer to me until she was finally just in my lap!
