from green to gorgeous!

So, many of you know that I used to be quite crafty before children took all my extra time (and I dont mind a bit).  Well, I got to revisit my creative side this weekend when I redid a couple of chairs.  I drove by and saw them sitting outside a thrift shop here in town.  I stopped immediately and checked them out.  I didnt buy them that day but I couldnt get them out of my head.  So I convinced Brad to go buy them with me a couple of days later.  Luckily, while he didnt see their potential AT ALL, he indulged me and bought them anyway.  Im excited at how they turned out.  From Gross and Green to Gold and Gorgeous!

I think they look fabulous in the dining room!

Our visitor

We had a visitor tonight!  A tree frog was stuck on the outside glass of the door.  Barnes loved seeing the frog from both sides of the glass.  We talked about the little suction cups on his feet and how his little throat was moving so fast while he breathed in and out.  Barnes even got to pet him!  We have named him Mr. Froggy and we hope he comes back soon.

Choo Choo!

We have loved going to the Casey Jones Museum here in town since we moved back to town almost 2 years ago.  Its one of our favorite things to do.  They have train tables set up for the kids to play.  We made our normal weekly visit this on Thursday and Anna Kate got to join in the fun.  Barnes wanted her to get in the train with him and ride.  She loved it!

Sweet big brother

Anna Kate went to the doctor today for her 9 month check up (a month late, I might add!).  At the end of the appointment they checked Anna Kate's iron level in her blood.  This required a stick in her big toe and taking bloood.

When the nurse came in to do it, Barnes got all concerned about his sister.

BBP-  What you do to my, sister?
Nurse- Im going to stick her toe and take some blood.
BBP - Will it hurt her?
Nurse - I dont think so but she may cry a little.

BBP then got up and went over to her on the table and held her little baby hand.

BBP- Its okay, sister.  You very brave.  You big girl.  Me right here, me love you. Me protect you.

My heart melted.  MELTED.  He is such a sweet big brother and a great protector of his sister.  Hes a helper to me and to her all day every day.  She is lucky to have someone like him blazing the trail for her.

Im so blessed to spend my days with these two precious little ones.  THESE are the best days of my life.

From paper plans to home sweet home!

This post is a month late... but our dream house is finally finished and I'm finally getting around to putting up our pictures!  These were taken 07/01/11 is the day before we moved in.  I must say, Brad and I have never been prouder than we were when we got the keys to our home sweet home.  It is everything and more that we envisioned it would be when we were sitting around our table on late nights looking at paper plans.  The last month has been wonderful getting settled in.  We are looking forward to many years of happiness and our children growing up in this wonderful home.

Fire Ant Monster Truck

So we all know children have their own language and perception of the things they see and hear around them... Barnes is currently obsessed with monster trucks! LOVES them, talks about them, talks to them, wants to watch anything with big trucks, sees monster trucks on the road when we are driving... you get the picture.  Well, hes been asking me about his fire ant monster truck.

Barnes- "Mommy, wheres my fire ant monster truck?"

Me- "I have no idea what you are talking about, we dont have a fire ant monster truck."

Barnes - "Yes, I do, Mommy.  Please help me find him.  Please, please!"

So this went on for DAYS and DAYS and DAYS.  Him asking me to help him find the Fire Ant Monster Truck and me thinking he was crazy!  Finally, yesterday he comes running in and proclaims that he found the Fire Ant!

Barnes - "Mommy! I found Fire Ant Monster Truck!"

Me - (half listening because I still think hes lost it about this fire ant thing) "Ok thats nice, Barnes"

Then he puts this truck from the little cartoon about all the Cars characters up on the island and says, here he is.

This is Rasta"Car"ian - which Ive been calling Rastafarian
THIS is the monster truck Barnes has been calling Rasta Fire Ant!  I just died laughing... all this time, he thought it was Rasta Fire Ant and I thought he had lost it!! Kids are so funny.

Summer Fun

I havent been a very good blogger lately!  We have had a lot on our plates.  The move is complete, we are mostly settled and loving our new home.  I have tons of pictures of the house to share (there are a few here) but I wanted to go ahead and post about our most important things... the little people!

the truck came very early on July 1!
the finished the house just in time and we LOVE it!

Barnes is SOOO happy to finally live by Gavin.  Gavin has decided we don't live close enough and he wants to build a house on the lot next to us!  Sweet little friends!
first bath in the new house

Barnes new hiding place is under Anna Kate's bed! He thinks hes so cute.. when I say, Barnes where are you, he says, I'm under the bed mommy!  HA!

We've had our first mishap in the new house~ Had to take Anna Kate to the emergency room last week because I thought she ate a safety pin.  Luckily she did NOT!  Xray found nothing.  WHEW! She sure was happy at the ER.

Barnes new favorite thing to play with is Play dough or as he says, "Mommy, can we get out the play date?"
Shes so happy!

we got a big beach ball sprinkler to replace the pool! (NOT really the same though!) Barnes asked me when the mans were delivering the pool!

And the icing on the cake... there was a fireworks show right in our cove for the fourth of July on the weekend we moved in! Our neighbor had a get together and we got to enjoy the fireworks from the driveway.  Couldn't be more special!
