My Point of View

For the first time since we started our project....this new, beautiful house started to seem like its really our HOUSE. All in one week, they put a roof on it, put the front doors in and put in the stairs so that I could actually go up and see the rooms upstairs. Looking at the view from Barnes and Anna Kate's rooms it started to seem like a home. The thought of this house being where they are going to grow up and call home for the next few decades makes me very happy. All the memories to come: birthdays, Christmases, homework, playing games and just being a family. It was overwhelming as I stood upstairs and looked out Barnes' window. I am so blessed in so many ways. 90 days and we will be moving in!
ready to roof roof looks great - honestly, I spent a day and a half agonizing about ridge caps. I didn't even know what ridge caps were until a month ago...It was worth it!

Enjoying the weather

We had a bit of warm weather last week. Its cold outside now so I'm reminiscing and hoping for warmer weather soon so we can get OUT and play.
we had a little diaper accident so she ended up just in a diaper - but super cute! We were taking a stroll around the neighborhood and he asked to get out of the stroller so he could go play in the willow trees. He said it looked like a forest!

Big happenings

All of a sudden my baby is growing up. In the last three weeks we have:

1. Had an explosion of language and words due to our ear tubes and being able to hear better!

2. Ditched the pacifier

3. Successfully started potty training

But as I watch that sweet face sleeping on the monitor screen tonite, hes still my little baby boy.

He picked me flowers....

Buttercups have always been my favorite flower. How appropriate that the first flowers Barnes ever picked for me were buttercups.

This is a great quote about spring flowers that sums it up perfectly. Brighter days are soon to be here!

"The flowers of late winter and early spring occupy places in our hearts that are well out of proportion to their size." ~ Gertrude S. Wister

The Break Up

Barnes' first love affair has come to an end. He finally gave up his poppy. I'm so glad to see it go but a little sad too. He loved that thing from the moment he was 2 weeks old. It gave him so much comfort and helped him sleep, cope with sadness and made him happy. So for those things I'm grateful.

He traded it for the following:

A tub of plastic dinosaurs

A Buzz Light Year kite

A Thomas the Train bathtub toy

All things he picked out at the store with the understanding he was trading them for his poppy. With his ear tube surgery behind him, we knew it was time... past time. Its been days and hes only mentioned it a couple of times. What a good boy!!

Im obsessed with this recipe:

Skillet Dark Chocolate Chunk Cookie

We made it tonight and it was HEAVENLY! I will probably eat ALL OF IT tomorrow while Barnes is at the sitter. Im not even kidding. It was that good.

Its Coming Along

Our big project is chugging right along. They put the plumbing in last week and poured the concrete on Friday. YAY!

(we got breakfast at Chick-fil-a and watched for an hour!) Thats our house on that truck!!

Growing like weeds!

My little sweeties are getting so big! Anna Kate is 4 months old and a giggle box these days! Barnes is obsessed with fishing and loves blowing raspberries on Sissy's tummy.

Anna Kate is just so happy these days. She smiles at everyone in stores, at the post office, where ever we may be. She's started laughing a big belly laugh when she gets tickled. So stinkin cute... I forgot how much fun this age is.

Barnes has a new tackle box and wants to fish ALL THE TIME. He came out of the bedroom one morning last week and was naked as a jay bird, holding his tackle box. He said, "Me ne-ked! Me go fish!" He told me later that morning he was going outside to fish in the pool. HA!

He had his ear tubes put in week before last and it has made a world of difference already. His speech has changed and he doesn't stop talking. EVER.

The two of them are interacting even more these days. Barnes loves to kiss Kate, snuggle her and blow raspberries on her tummy. He also loves to take her socks off and look at her "chubby feet"!
